Dimensional Weight (Volumetric Weight) Calculation Change
Effective 18th January 2010, FedEx will implement a revised formula by which the Dimensional Weight (Volumetric Weight) of shipments are calculated. The dimension divisor will be changed from 6,000cc/kg to 5,000cc/kg and apply to all countries in Asia Pacific.
With the general increase in operating costs over the years, it had become necessary for this Dimensional Weight (Volumetric Weight) calculation change.
The new formula to derive the Dimensional Weight (Volumetric Weight) for a shipment will be:
Length(cm) x Width(cm) x Height(cm)
5,000cc/kg
Alternatively, if the dimensions are in inches, the divisor will be 305 (currently 366). For markets where Lbs (pounds) are used instead of kilograms, the divisor will be 139 in inches (currently 166).
We encourage our customers to optimize the packaging material used in their shipments, so to better manage the chargeable weight being assessed. Customers can also consider our International Economy (IE) service as a more affordable shipping alternative.
FedEx is committed to continuing to provide high-quality service and reliability our customers have come to expect. Should you have any inquiries, please contact your local FedEx Customer Service Team.
