2002 Press Releases
KUALA LUMPUR, Tuesday May 7, 2002 -FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company and the Official Air Express Transportation company of SMIOSS 2002, has announced a donation of RM38,000.00 to the Taman Megah Handicapped and Disabled Children's Home (PPKKCTM).
FedEx Asia Pacific President, Mr. David L. Cunningham Jr. and Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Singam, today presented a cheque to the President of PPKKCTM, Mr S.K. Manikumar, on behalf of the employees and management of FedEx Malaysia.
"FedEx has a fine reputation for supporting worthy charitable causes and community activities in Malaysia," said Ramesh.
He said the donation reflected FedEx's recent decision to extend its air express delivery services into the community, via drop off locations at selected Petronas Mesra stores.
"We firmly believe that our role as a leading company in Malaysia extends beyond the delivery of services for profit and also includes the provision of support to the community in which we operate our business.
"In making this donation, FedEx recognises the special role PPKKCTM plays in our community, through the provision of services such as speech therapy and basic social and life skills which enable the residents to enjoy a quality of life that they would otherwise not have."
Taman Megah Handicapped and Disabled Children's Home (PPKKCTM) was established in 1997 and provides services to physically handicapped and disabled children. PPKKCTM is a non-profit, self funded organisation which relies upon sales of handcrafts and community donations for its continued operation.
