FedEx extends global reach with express and logistics services for the world's newest nation.
SINGAPORE, 25 February, 2003: FedEx Express has become the first express company to establish weekday door-to-door express delivery services to the East Timor capital of Dili since the proclamation of Timore Leste (East Timor) as a nation in May 2002.
The new service, which commenced in February, extends FedEx's global reach to 214 countries and connects East Timor to the unrivalled FedEx intra-Asia delivery network with more than 260 flights per week to more than 30 countries.
East Timor, on the island of Timor, is located north of Australia on the eastern end of the Indonesian chain of islands. FedEx handles a range of goods for express delivery, from documents to urgent supplies needed by international aid organisations based in the nation.
"FedEx is the true pioneer of express delivery. Our new East Timor service represents a further expansion of our global network and is a significant step in the business development of the new nation," said Mr Clifton Chua, FedEx Managing Director, Singapore and Indonesia.
FedEx International Priority® packages and documents bound for East Timor are routed via Singapore and Denpasar. FedEx Express operates ground deliveries in East Timor through a global service provider, SDV Logistics East Timor.
