FedEx Delivers Asia to Europe in New Campaign

New FedEx print campaign highlights FedEx Asia-to-Europe leadership

HONG KONG, April 28, 2003 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, has unveiled a major new print-advertising campaign, 'Now flying to more places in Europe', which will appear across Asia from this month.

"FedEx connects shippers in Asia to more cities in Europe than before, with service enhancements from Asia and added continental destinations," said Mr Rajesh Subramaniam, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, FedEx Asia Pacific. "This print advertising campaign captures the FedEx fast, reliable door-to-door service and our unmatched ability to connect Asia to Europe, the world’s largest consumer market."

FedEx flies daily from Asia to its European Hub in Paris.

"For our customers this means that the moment our plane lands in Europe, their package is already very close to its destination," he added.

The three versions feature an airport-controller on a bridge to a medieval water-fortress, an airstrip-lawn next to a windmill and a 'dolly', usually used in airports for freight and baggage, creeping up a small path to a castle.

"The idea was to show that FedEx planes don't just go to the main capital airports", says David Guerrero, ECD of BBDO Guerrero Ortega, who developed the campaign with his Manila team for BBDO Asia-Pacific. "So we were looking for a way to bring the airport out to smaller locations – which still had to be recognizable as European. We used stock material for the backgrounds and shot the controller and the dolly separately at Singapore Changi Airport."

The first FedEx 'Now flying to more places in Europe' ads will run across Asia in April and May.
