2003 Press Releases
Sydney, AUSTRALIA - September 24, 2003 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, today announced a two-year agreement with IMG to be a major sponsor of the adidas International tennis event, to be held in Sydney in January 2004 and January 2005.
The highly recognisable FedEx logo will appear on the match net during all women's matches of the official WTA tournament that will take place from January 11-17, 2004 at the Sydney International Tennis Centre.
The agreement marks the first sports partnership of its kind for FedEx Australia. Internationally, FedEx are strong supporters of major sporting events including the PGA golf tour and the American NFL SuperBowl and ProBowl.
"FedEx is excited about our partnership with the adidas International for the next two years," said Rhicke Jennings, Managing Director of FedEx Australia and New Zealand.
"This event builds on the strong tradition of FedEx to sponsor major sporting events, such as the BMW Formula One racing team, French Open tennis and golf events around Asia and the United States".
The announcement of the adidas International partnership follows the recent launch of the Australian-made 'Run Jenny Run' television advertising campaign, which showcases the FedEx 'Live to Deliver' spirit.
