FedEx Announces Lucky Winners of 'Get Transit Time' Contest

KUALA LUMPUR, September 23, 2004 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, announced the five lucky winners of FedEx's Get Transit Time Contest. These participants were presented with Swatch watches worth RM220. FedEx ran the promotion to promote its Global Transit Time service, which was recently launched on the FedEx website (www.fedex.com).

During the promotion, customers answered three 'true or false' questions, and attached three air waybills from US-bound shipments to each entry. Lily Tay, Managing Director for FedEx Malaysia, who presented the prizes, said, "We are thrilled at the response we received from our customers. FedEx is dedicated to providing customers with tools to guide them through the shipping process. This is important in enhancing our reliability and value to customers," she said.

Ms. Wong Siu Chin, Customer Service & Logistics Manager for Smith & Nephew, a distributor of precision medical instruments and one of the lucky winners said "Many of our items carry a high cost, which prohibits us from keeping a large amount of stock on hand, however we must ensure that when surgeons place an order, they will receive their instruments on time, every time. The lives of their patients may depend on our goods reaching them as promised and FedEx is the only company which can deliver the reliability that we and our customers need."

Customers can visit the FedEx website to calculate the delivery time of their shipments within the FedEx network using the GTT system. GTT is equipped with easy-to-use functions, which help to define and categorize particular shipments and generate transit time quotes. Previously, information about shipment delivery time was only available to shippers by telephoning the FedEx Customer Service Hotline.

Global Transit Time (GTT) is an online global tool which helps customers make shipping decisions based on a range of possible variables. Based on the information entered, the system provides the estimated transit time for the shipment. To assist customers, the result also includes a list of the typical shipping documents required, such as air waybill and commercial invoice.
