FedEx Announces Winner of FedEx-AsiaOne Best Boss Award

SINGAPORE, October 15, 2004 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation today honored Mr. Edwin Cheng Kim Man, Director of CMS Enhancements (S) Pte Ltd as the "FedEx-AsiaOne Best Boss".

Chosen from a total of 100 over entries received, Mr Cheng was presented with a Maruman golf set worth $1,200 and plaque, courtesy of FedEx by Mr. Ramesh Kumar Singam, Managing Director for FedEx Singapore and Indonesia.

The care and concern he showed to his employers won him the respect of Ms Cindy Ngo, who nominated him for the "FedEx-AsiaOne Best Boss Award". During the time when Ms Ngo worked for Mr Cheng from April 1989 to 2000, the company ceased operations in Singapore and relocated to Hong Kong.

During this time, Mr Cheng went above and beyond his duty as a boss and referred his staff to a business contact who was in need of help at the time. When Mr Cheng returned in 2001 to continue his business, he remembered the contributions and support from his previous staff, and reemployed them into his company.

His extraordinary act also won the hearts of the organizers. "From the overwhelming number of entries that came in, this story stood out, showing Mr Cheng's true concern for his employees. The qualities he exemplified in his actions are similar to FedEx's philosophy of putting people first, and worthy of recognition for the award" said Mr. Ramesh Kumar Singam, Managing Director for FedEx Express Singapore and Indonesia.

The FedEx-AsiaOne Best Boss Award was held in conjunction with World Bosses' Day that falls on 16 October. During the competition, run from 6th to 13th October, members of the public were invited to submit a 50-word entry relating occasions where their bosses demonstrated their leadership or goodness and why he or she deserves to win the FedEx-AsiaOne Best Boss Award on Bosses' Day.
