KUALA LUMPUR, January 18, 1998 -- Federal Express (FedEx) today hosted a special party for children at Shelter 1, a home for children that are less fortunate. Residents at Shelter 1 were presented with gifts and a cash donation from FedEx.
At the luncheon and tour, Dennice Wilson, managing director for FedEx Singapore and Malaysia operations, presented the donation of RM4,000 to Shelter 1, while FedEx staff distributed clothing, toys and FedEx teddy bears.
In attendance at the event were Ms. Wilson, Ang Peng Hoe, regional marketing manager and other FedEx employees, along with James Nayagam, chairman of the Shelter facility.
In Malaysia, FedEx began operations in 1993. The company employs over 250 people and operates 25 vehicles in Malaysia. FedEx operates MD-11 and A310 aircraft into Kuala Lumpur and Penang on a twice daily basis. Both cities are linked to FedEx's AsiaOne network, providing overnight delivery to 14 major commercial centers in Asia, and to North America.
