Federal Express Launches FedEx 25-kg and 10-kg Boxes

Easy-to-use, flat rate boxes now available for customers in Asia Pacific

HONG KONG, March 5, 1997 - Federal Express announced today that it has launched its FedEx 25-kg and FedEx 10-kg boxes this week in the Asia Pacific market. The launch will be supported by television commercials beginning on Friday, March 7, along with direct mail and customer promotional programs.

"The introduction of this new service represents our continuing commitment to the growing needs of smaller business in the Asia Pacific area. The advantage of the FedEx 25-kg and FedEx 10-kg boxes is not just in the savings, but also in the unsurpassed, reliable service and rapid market access FedEx provides its customers in 211 countries globally," said Michael L Ducker, senior vice president for FedEx's Asia Pacific Division.

Service for the new box products include customs clearance, door-to-door delivery, and time-certain guarantees, with delivery commitments ranging from one to three days, depending on points of origin and destination for the shipments.

The larger box measures 56 centimetres (22 inches) by 44 centimetres (17.3 inches) by 35 centimetres (13.8 inches), and it carries up to 25 kilograms (55 pounds). Customers can save up to 30 per cent off shipping costs when they use this service.

The smaller box measures 41.5 centimetres (16.3 inches) by 34 centimetres (13.4 inches) by 27 centimetres (10.6 inches), and it carries up to 10 kilograms (22 pounds). Customers can save up to 20 per cent off the regular price when they use this service.

Customers can obtain FedEx boxes for both services free of charge, along with an easy-to-understand information kit on how to use the box. Saturday pick-up and delivery is available in some markets. Further information is available through calling FedEx's local customer service hotline.
