Federal Express and Intershop Launch Electronic Commerce Services for Asia Pacific Region

Hong Kong, March 22, 1999 - Federal Express Corp. (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, and Intershop Communications, a world-leading provider of electronic commerce software, today announced a strategic alliance.

This alliance will make Intershop the preferred e-commerce solutions provider for FedEx in the Asia Pacific region. FedEx will offer their customers in Asia Pacific, Intershop's eCommerce software fully integrated with FedEx's custom integration of shipping and tracking via the FedEx Passport software.

The combination of the Intershop e-commerce platform with FedEx's custom solutions will enable FedEx's customers to expedite the order/delivery process, eliminate the middleman and significantly reduce overhead. FedEx's online customers will benefit from the convenience of an easy-to-use interface for calculating shipping costs in real-time and tracking the status of their shipment instantly. These solutions also provide public key encryption software to protect confidential information and data integrity.

"This is a strategic initiative for Intershop because it allows us to offer customers integrated fulfillment services and electronic commerce as a complete solution," said Petra Vorsteher, vice president of business development and strategic alliances for INTERSHOP. "FedEx has always been a visionary e-commerce partner and one of the first shipping companies to recognize the importance of online shopping. We're proud to be in an alliance with FedEx, a market leader in global express transportation."

"This alliance will empower Internet merchants and shoppers worldwide with the ability to realize the full potential of e-commerce - convenience and efficiency," said William L. Conley, Vice President of Electronic Commerce and Customer Service, FedEx Asia Pacific. "Internet shoppers will now be able to track their shipment status directly from the online store, and have the power to choose the service that best meets their individual needs. This is yet another way we provide customers with innovative solutions that will help them conduct their businesses more reliably."
