FedEx as official carrier of the CART Series operates 3 charters
to transport 52 CART race cars to Japan
Tokyo, April 4, 1999-Federal Express (FedEx), the world's largest
express transportation company, today delivered 52 championship
cars from Indianapolis to Japan. FedEx is the official transporter
of the '99 FedEx Championship Series, organized by Championship
Auto Racing Teams (CART).
The Japan race will be held over three days starting April 8 at
Super Speedway, Japan's first full-scale oval racing course, at
Twin Ring Motegi in Tochigi.
In addition to participating in this series as the title sponsor,
FedEx is also the official carrier for the event, transporting championship
cars and racing equipment for the sponsors and racing teams.
CART, formerly known as Indy Car, is one of the most popular motor
sports in the U.S. and the fastest motor sport on the earth. FedEx
and CART signed a three-year title sponsorship agreement in 1997.
The 20-race FedEx Championship Series season began on March 21,
1999 in Florida and will be held in 20 cities in five countries.
