Press Releases
JAKARTA, April 8, 1998 -- Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) announced today that it will be offering another innovative addition to the FedEx AsiaOne network by providing direct flights to Jakarta five times a week.
The new routing, beginning April 8, 1998, will be served by an Airbus A310 aircraft. The flight, originating from FedEx's Asia Pacific Hub in Subic Bay, will transit through Cebu and Jakarta before heading for Singapore to connect to the U.S via the Super X flight or to 14 other major Asian cities through the AsiaOne network.
"We are very excited about this new service which clearly addresses our commitment to the Indonesian market. This is part of FedEx's efforts to broaden its network, thereby providing greater service and access to Asian markets", said Michael Ducker, President for FedEx's Asia Pacific Division.
Customers can now expect greater delivery speed since this new service will connect Indonesia to the rest of FedEx's network in 211 countries worldwide. With this new service, customers can expect delivery of shipments typically in one or two business days to the U.S. and Asia.
Mr. Ducker continued, "This is part of our continuing effort to provide innovative services that will help our customers conduct their businesses faster and more efficiently. With this new service, we are moving closer to fulfilling our vision of developing an integrated distribution network that will allow customers to transport cargo to virtually any destination in the world within 24 to 48 hours.
"With the use of our own A310 aircraft, customers in Indonesia can expect even greater reliability since this will allow us to accept shipments of all sizes for delivery", said Mr. Ducker.
"Because FedEx is committed to providing exceptionally high quality service standards, we have introduced a number of innovations to provide Indonesian customers with even greater convenience. Customers can take advantage of later call-in cut-off times and 24-hour shipment tracking either on-line or by calling customer service", said Mr. Ducker. The advantages of this new service also include enhanced customs clearance and a money back guarantee.
