Press Releases
Hong Kong, June 21, 1996 -- CAAC and Federal Express Corporation
(FedEx) signed a memorandum of understanding this week for sending 30
air traffic controllers from the PRC to the United States for technical
training in September 1996. Mao Chunping, right, CAAC deputy director
general of Air Traffic Management Bureau, said the training is an
important step in China's commitment to air safety. 1995 was an accident-
free year for the CAAC, a record it intends to hold. As left is John Quinn,
FedEx vice president for mid-Pacific. Supported by FedEx, which operates a
fleet of more than 540 aircraft throughout the world, the selected air traffic
controllers will attend an 8-week training session in Embry Riddle
University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and visit FedEx's world
headquarters and its Super Hub in Memphis, Tennessee.
