FedEx Upgrades Customer Services in Move and Expansion of New Taiwan Headquarters

TAIPEI, July 16, 1997 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) announced today the upgrading of its services to customers in Taiwan with the introduction of a new toll-free number. The expansion coincides with a move to a new country headquarters in Taipei.

The relocation and expansion of FedEx's Taiwan headquarters provides Taiwanese customers with even greater value, and help meets the requirements of a growing local market, according to a company spokesperson. The phased move began at the end of June 1997, with the Customer Service Department and the Information Technology Department (ITD) taking the lead into the new premises.

"Our business in Taiwan has been growing significantly over the past few years, and we expect this rapid expansion to continue," Eddy Chan, managing director of FedEx Taiwan, said. "With enhanced hardware, as well as software, the new office will greatly strengthen our efficiency and productivity, and help us meet the needs of our customers in this growing market."

Located at 9/F, No. 61, Chung Shan N. Rd., Sec. 2, Taipei, the new office will host various departments, including Customer Service, ITD, Sales, Billing, Customer Automation, Administration, Finance, Marketing, Accounting and Personnel. The new toll-free number for customers is expected to handle a 50 per cent increase in customer calls.

The process for relocating the Taiwan headquarters to its new address is expected to be completed by early August 1997.

All of the stations operated by FedEx in Taiwan will remain at their current locations, continuing to provide customers with speed and reliability, along with value-for-money, for express delivery services.
