Customer call-in hour deadlines and drop-off times extended for shipments from the Taipei area to the US, Asia and Europe
TAIPEI, August 6, 2001 - Federal Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, announced today that their FedEx "Same Day Flight" service provides local export companies and other customers with greater flexibility, saving time and money. Customer call-in cut-off times for shipments from the Taipei area to the US west coast will be extended until 5:00 pm, while the call-in deadline for shipments to Asia and Europe will be extended to 4.00 pm and to the US east coast will become 12:00pm. Additionally, the cut-off time for customers' dropping-off shipments to FedEx stations will be extended to 7:00pm for shipments to the US west coast, Asia and Europe, and to 4:30pm for shipments to the US east coast.
Jimmy Chen, Managing Director of FedEx Taiwan stated that FedEx has tirelessly devoted itself to boosting Taiwan exporters' global competitiveness. The FedEx "Same Day Flight" service, which now extends the call-in cut-off time and shipment drop-off deadline, aims at assisting Taiwan exporters to deliver shipments to their customers one day earlier than was previously possible. As a result of the global economic slowdown, this FedEx service enhancement will assuredly create more opportunities for Taiwan businesses, decreasing capital accumulation in order to adapt to the competitive international environment.
In the past, different areas of Taipei had various cut-off times, so for those business operators who wish to receive a clear explanation about extensions of the cut-off times, Jimmy Chen, Managing Director of FedEx Taiwan recommends that customers make inquires locally by dialing 0800-075-075 during business hours from 8:00am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday. In this way, valued customers avoid delaying the shipment schedule as a result of being unfamiliar with these improved times. The FedEx "Same Day Flight" service is effective in Taipei beginning on the beginning of August.
FedEx has already extended the call-in cut-off time for the FedEx "Same Day Flight" service in southern Taiwan. Now this service will be broadened to better serve the Taipei area. Whether the shipments are destined for Asia, Europe, or the US east or west coast, once shipments are ready customers just need to fax the customs clearance papers to (02) 2243-2733 (FedEx Export Documentation Dept) prior to the call-in cut-off time and call toll-free to the customer service hotline at 0800-075-075.
Using the FedEx tracking system, Taiwanese customers can monitor their shipments via the Internet, or by using the customer service hotline. Their shipments will then be delivered to most major cities in Asia the next day, before 10:30 am to nearly all U.S. destinations the next day, and after two business days to 50 major cities in Europe*. Additionally, FedEx's "Money Back Guarantee" * * protects all shipments.
