FedEx extends its express service to Chiayi

Taipei, August 12, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, announced today that it has extended its service to Chiayi in order to meet the increased demand for express service in the area.

With the new service extension, FedEx is now the only express transportation company that can provide customers in Chiayi and Min-hsiung District with same-day flight service. All customers need to do is to place their pick-up order before the cutoff time. Their shipments will then be delivered the next day to major cities in Asia and to all U.S. destinations the next day before 10:30 a.m.

"Taiwan is an important market for FedEx. We are extremely pleased to be able to provide fast, reliable and time-definite transportation service for Chiayi customers. This not only exemplifies FedEx's relentless efforts to meet and surpass customer expectations, but also sets another service benchmark for the international express service industry in Taiwan," said Jimmy Chen, Managing Director of FedEx Taiwan.

In order to celebrate this new service extension, FedEx is now offering one International express service shipment (0.5 kg or below) free of charge to all new customers who open a FedEx account in Chiayi. This offer is valid until August 31, 1999*.

"The additional service will certainly allow us to take advantage of the growing trade opportunities between Taiwan and other parts of Asia, as well as the rest of the world," remarked Mr. Chen.
