Ten additional weekly frequencies offer customers faster,
more reliable service
HONG KONG, August 29, 2000 - FedEx Express announces the
launch of its first direct flight between the EuroOne®
hub in Charles de Gaulle (CDG), France, and the AsiaOne®
hub in Subic Bay (SFS), the Philippines, meeting growing
demand for earlier deliveries, reduced transit time and later
pick-up times.
In addition, FedEx also introduced ten new weekly flights
connecting major European and Asian markets, as well as the
Middle East and India.
"Trade flows between Asia and Europe continue to increase
at a very rapid pace," said David L Cunningham, President,
Asia Pacific Division, FedEx Express. "FedEx has a significant
presence in the European market, with a US$ 200 million EuroOne
hub in Charles de Gaulle, Paris offering connectivity to
40 major European destination directly on the FedEx network."

In October, FedEx will also roll out the "1818" cut-off time
program in Hong Kong. "We are committed to local market needs
in the regions that we serve. Customers with express transportation
needs from Hong Kong to Asia Pacific, the US West Coast and
Europe will benefit from the extended pick-up time of 1818
hours," said Luiz Tung, Managing Director, Hong Kong & Macau,
FedEx Express. "We have more than doubled our intra-Asia
capacity for Hong Kong by flying wide-bodied MD-11 aircraft
starting from April to cater to the rapid growth in the region."
