FedEx Express and the Parcels and Logistics Holding Company of the La Poste Group Sign Operational Agreement in Europe

BEIJING, September 28, 2000 - Federal Express Corp. (FedEx Express), the world's largest express transportation company, and the Parcels and Logistics Holding Company of the La Poste Group, one of the world's leading postal organizations, announced today an agreement to strengthen their respective services within Europe. The agreement is part of the strategy of the two groups to reinforce their competitive positions.

The agreement, effective as of January 1, 2001, will give customers of Chronopost International access to the FedEx air network, while FedEx customers in several key markets will benefit from the European ground infrastructure of the Parcels and Logistics Company of the La Poste Group.

"The potential benefits of aligning the most extensive global express transportation network with one of Europe's most efficient and highly respected brands are enormous", said Robert W. Elliott, President of FedEx for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "FedEx is experiencing strong momentum in our region, with excellent growth rates. This agreement will build on that momentum with potential new sources of volume and revenue".

"This agreement will enable us to strengthen and develop our services in Europe and the rest of the world via access to the FedEx international network, which is recognized throughout the world", added Bertrand de Mascarel, President of the Parcels and Logistics Holding Company of the La Poste Group.

"We are happy to have La Poste join our existing network which strengthens our position here in Asia, offering wider express transportation and integrated information/logistics solutions to our regional customers", David Cunningham, President FedExExpress Asia-Pacific Division.

The deal brings greater European network to our customers in Asia linked through FedEx express' recent addition of several new flights that extend pick-up times and facilitate even faster deliveries.

The five MD-11 flights a week from the FedEx European hub at CDG direct to the FedEx AsiaOne hub in Subic Bay, the Philippines, coupled with the La Poste agreement, FedEx's unrivaled Ecommerce solutions and ten weekly flights connecting Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia, will give greater reach to Asia Pacific customers across Europe and the Nordic region.

"This latest strengthening of the network is yet another example of FedEx's commitment to being simply the best express transportation company in the Asia Pacific", Mr. Cunningham said.
