Opens new station in Shatin to facilitate handling of shipments
HONG KONG, October 19, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx),
the world's largest air express transportation company, has extended
its cut-off time for shipments to the US east coast from 3:30pm
to 4:00pm starting October 18. This service enhancement is part
of FedEx's continual efforts to provide local customers with better
service.
In addition, FedEx recently opened a new station at Shek Mun Industrial
Area in Shatin of the New Territories, further demonstrating its
long-term commitment to local customers providing fast and reliable
service from Hong Kong to destinations worldwide.
"Customers' needs and convenience are of paramount concern to us
and we believe the extended cut-off time will provide our customers
more convenient shipping services," said Peter Yin, Vice President,
Marketing & Communications, Asia Pacific Division.
With a floor size of 20,000 square feet, the new station houses
20 couriers, 14 vehicles, and is directly accessible by 40-foot
container trucks. The station is equipped with a loading platform
extension to ease the loading and unloading of packages to the power
roller belt.
"The opening of the new Shatin station is just another key step
towards achieving our objective of getting closer to customers.
We are committed to continual service enhancement to meet customers'
evolving needs," added Yin.
At present, FedEx has seven operation stations strategically located
across Hong Kong at To Kwa Wan, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong, Tsuen
Wan, Chai Wan, Kennedy Town and Shatin.
