FedEx announces new executive appointments to spearhead growth in Asia Pacific

Cunningham named President for Asia Pacific and Yin Vice President for South Pacific

HONG KONG, November 16, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation, the world's largest express transportation company, today announced key executive appointments to further strengthen and consolidate senior management in the all-important Asia Pacific marketplace.

David L. Cunningham is appointed to President for Asia Pacific Division, while Peter Yin, currently Vice President for Hong Kong and Macau as well as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Asia Pacific, will succeed Cunningham as Vice President of South Pacific Region. Rajesh Subramaniam, Vice President of Electronic Commerce and Customer Service for Asia Pacific, will take on additional responsibility for marketing and communications.

The new appointments will take effect immediately as incumbent Asia Pacific President Michael L. Ducker has assumed the new position of Executive Vice President of International Operations, based in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

"Asia Pacific has certainly become the leading growth market for FedEx worldwide. With our unique, fully integrated air express and information technology networks, FedEx is well positioned to take advantage of the rising opportunities for supply chain management and the increasing need for time-definite, reliable express delivery services driven by the Internet commerce boom in Asia," said Ducker. "David Cunningham brings over 10 years of experience with FedEx Asia Pacific, and will be able to continue our dynamic growth as the region's leading provider of total logistics solutions."

FedEx's Asia Pacific Division is one of the company's most dynamic operating divisions, comprising three geographic regions: North Pacific, with headquarters based in Tokyo; China and Mid-Pacific, with headquarters in Hong Kong; and South Pacific, based in Singapore.

Cunningham was involved in providing financial planning and control support to FedEx Asia Pacific in late '80s. In his last assignment as Vice President for South Pacific Region, Cunningham led a staff of over 2,000 in devising and implementing corporate strategies and managing operations in some of the world's fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Peter Yin, the new South Pacific Regional Vice President, will continue to develop exciting opportunities in emerging South Pacific markets which include Australia, Brunei, Indo-China, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

"Peter Yin has been in Asia Pacific for over seven years, charting and implementing some of our most successful marketing strategies and plans. We look forward to having his leadership and foresight focused on steering our growth in the South Pacific region," said Ducker.

Rajesh Subramaniam will take on the Asia Pacific responsibilities of marketing and communications in addition to his role as Vice President of Electronic Commerce and Customer Service. "As the Asia Pacific market teems with new opportunities, Subramaniam's solid expertise and long-standing track record make him the ideal choice to direct our marketing while, at the same time, continuing his exemplary contributions to FedEx's leadership in e-commerce in Asia," said Ducker.
