Press Releases
Bangkok, December 4, 2001 - FedEx, the world's largest express
transportation company, has announced the opening of two new stations:
one in Korat, gateway to the country's Northeast region; and another
one in Lam Chabang, in the heart of the Eastern Seaboard and its
nearby Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The new stations will facilitate
the access of local customers, including corporations, small-and-medium
enterprises (SMEs) and
individuals, to the FedEx global network.
The Korat station is FedEx's first service center in Thailand's
northeast region. It provides express service including rapid, reliable,
time-definite delivery of documents, packages and freight shipments
worldwide. The 80 square meter facility offers its customers a 15:00
pm cut off time. Shipments are then transported to Bangkok on the
same day for easy connection to their final destinations worldwide
via FedEx's AsiaOne network and regional hub in Subic Bay (Philippines).
The Lam Chabang station provides FedEx customers in the EPZ area
with on-site customs processing for faster customs clearance. Customers
can also fax their documents beforehand to commence the process
in advance. They benefit from a late cut-off time at 16:00 pm. In
case of large shipments, customers can request for pick up using
FedEx's one-ton trucks.
This move illustrates FedEx's continuing expansion plan in Thailand.
Said Mr. Rhicke Jennings, Managing Director of FedEx Thailand: "With
the opening of these two new stations, we further increase our presence
in the country to better serve our customers wherever they are.
These new facilities are part of our company's efforts to support
country's northeastern region and the dynamic Eastern Seaboard,
where there is a real need for fast and reliable international air
express services."
The two new stations are the latest addition to FedEx's network
in Thailand, complementing seven other FedEx service centers: four
in Bangkok - Bangna, Laksi, Rama IV and Don Muang International
Airport - and three in the North: Chiang Mai (two locations) and
Lumphun.
FedEx Express, a $15 billion subsidiary of FedEx Corp., connects
areas that generate 90% of the world's gross domestic product in
24-48 hours with door-to-door, customs-cleared service and a money-back
guarantee. The company's unmatched air route authorities and infrastructure
make it the world's largest express transportation company, providing
fast, reliable and time-definite transportation of more than 3.3
million items to 211 countries each working day. FedEx employs approximately
144,000 employees and has more than 46,000 drop-off locations, 640
aircraft and 45,000 vehicles in its integrated global network.
