HONG KONG, December 22, 1997 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) today announced the appointment of Ogden Aviation (Hong Kong) Limited as its agent for ground handling operations at the new Chek Lap Kok Airport scheduled to open in 1998 during a signing ceremony held in the China and Mid-Pacific headquarters of FedEx. Signatories included John Quinn, vice president for the region and Mackenzie Grant, managing director of Ogden Aviation.
Ogden Aviation, a major division of Ogden Corporation, is the world's largest non-airline owned aviation services company. Serving over 350 international and regional airlines at 92 international gateways located throughout the world, Ogden Aviation specializes in providing comprehensive ground handling, related aviation support, and infrastructure development.
"The global experience of our two corporations complements and blends well with each other, allowing FedEx to provide the best quality service at the best value to our customers," Mr. Quinn remarked. "Ogden has been able to put together a customized ground handling package to meet our specific requirements. We will work closely with them to ensure that the high service standards incorporated into the contract are met."
According to David Ross, managing director of FedEx Hong Kong, FedEx's customers will benefit from Ogden's services start-ups at Chek Lap Kok due to Ogden's commitment to quality services and new infrastructure. This infrastructure will be in place weeks before the airport opens, fully commissioned and operational, with a designated team of Ogden staff standing by for the first flight.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Grant also said that Ogden is determined to provide the highest level of personalized services to a small group of airlines interested as much in quality service as they are in price.
FedEx is the first to sign with Ogden among all airlines on ground handling operations at the new CLK airport.
